Here at Aquarium Pro we are able to special order in freshwater fish, saltwater fish, coral, pond fish as well as aquarium and pond supplies for our customers to be picked up in store. We also have a large selection of second hand tanks and supplies in store for our customers. We do not ship fish or products directly to customers and we try to place our special orders at the same time as our regular shipments. Tropical fish & products you see on our website are there for your reference so you are able to see what we can order, not what we currently have in stock. That does not guarentee that our suppliers will currently have what you are looking for but if they do then we will get it special ordered in for you. Pictures you see would be of that type of fish not the exact fish we would be ordering in. If the fish shows out of stock that does not mean we do not currently have it in store so feel free to give us a call at the shop so we can verify for you. We are in the process of getting our inventory updated so online quanities will eventually be able to accurately display what quanities we have in store. We require a minium non refundable 50% deposit for special orders once we verify the supplier does have them in stock. If none of our suppliers have it in stock then we will issue a refund with 7 days. We ask that special orders be picked up within a week of arrival or we offer quarantining services for special order fish at $15 a week per tank.
The Rosy Barb is one of the larger Barbs that can grow up to 6 inches in the wild. The male is red and gold with black spots near the rear and at the dorsal fin. The female lacks the red color and is mostly golden.
They prefer a well-planted tank of at least 30 gallons with soft, slightly acidic water. Rocks and driftwood can be added to the aquarium, but leave plenty of space for swimming. The Rosy Barb is a schooling fish and enjoys being in numbers. If in a large enough school, they typically will not bother any other fish in the aquarium.
It is best, when trying to breed the Rosy Barb, to house two females with one male. Provide a coarse gravel in the breeding tank and after the eggs have been laid, remove the parents. The fry will hatch in approximately 3 days, at which time, they should be fed baby brine shrimp until large enough to accept crushed flake food.
The Rosy Barb needs to be fed a variety of foods including vegetables as well as meaty foods. Feed a quality flake food as well as live and frozen foods such as brine shrimp and bloodworms.
